Animals For Sale

Dogs and cats available for adoption can be viewed at www.adoptapet.com.au but please read the important info below.

If you have carefully thought about purchasing an animal, consider adopting from the RSPCA. By adopting a pet from the Shelter, you will be giving an animal in need a second chance at life.

At the Shelter, we receive lost, abandoned, stray and injured animals every single day. If we are unable to find the owners, the animal will go through a thorough vet assessment and temperament test. These assessments determine whether the animal is suitable for adoption. Once an animal passes this criteria, it is then placed in our adoption area and ready to go to a new home.

The RSPCA believes that pets are for life and therefore we are looking for permanent, responsible homes for the animals at our Shelter. Last year, the RSPCA cared for thousands of animals who were dumped by their owners after the novelty of caring for a pet wore off. The RSPCA asks that you carefully consider the commitment needed before purchasing an animal to help reduce the number of those that are dumped. Owning a pet involves a lifetime commitment. Please contemplate the time and money required to adequately care for it as well as the affection, attention, daily feeding, grooming, exercise and regular visits to the vet that will be required.

There are always animals of all shapes, ages and sizes to choose from, but if you aren’t successful in finding a furry friend during your first visit, please keep trying.

Adoption Fee
A small fee is charged for all animals adopted from the RSPCA Shelter. While this fee covers some of the costs involved in preparing the animal for adoption, it does not actually meet all of our expenses.
Cats and dogs adopted from the RSPCA Shelter are desexed before going to a new home to prevent unwanted litters that occur through irresponsible breeding.

Dogs and cats are microchipped, which is a safe and permanent method of identifying your animal. The RSPCA also encourages people to ensure that their pets are wearing a collar with identification tag with name and contact phone number.

The adoption fee for dogs and cats includes:

  • a full vet check
  • temperament test
  • desexing
  • vaccination
  • worming
  • Flea treatment
  • microchip
